Walk in or book a private appointment at Kingsland Pharmacy. Your consultation takes place in a private room and everything you share stays confidential.
Your pharmacist will ask about your symptoms, health history, and current medications before recommending a treatment.
If you are suitable, your medication is supplied on the same day with clear instructions on how to use it. Your pharmacist will also advise on when to come back if you want to review how the treatment is going.
Premature ejaculation is one of the most common male sexual health concerns in the UK, and it is more treatable than most men realise. The most common signs that treatment may help include:
Priligy (Dapoxetine) is the only oral medication licensed in the UK for premature ejaculation, taken one to three hours before sexual activity. Licensed for men aged 18 to 64 only.
The starting dose is 30mg as needed, increasing to 60mg if required and tolerated. It must not be combined with antidepressants, or used by those with mania, heart disease or liver impairment. Your pharmacist will review your medical history before supply.
EMLA cream is a topical anaesthetic containing lidocaine and prilocaine that reduces penile sensation to help delay ejaculation.
Applied to the head of the penis 20 to 30 minutes before intercourse and wiped off beforehand. Used off-label for premature ejaculation, it suits men who prefer not to take oral medication or for whom Priligy is not appropriate. A condom should be used to prevent transfer to a partner. Our pharmacist will explain the off-label use and obtain your consent before supply.
Behavioural techniques such as the stop-start and squeeze methods can help build ejaculatory control alongside medication. For those where anxiety or relationship difficulties are a factor, psychosexual counselling may also be worth considering. Your pharmacist will discuss all suitable options during your consultation, as some men find a combination of approaches gives the best results.
Premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction are two different conditions, though they can sometimes occur in the same person. Erectile dysfunction means difficulty getting or maintaining an erection firm enough for sex. Premature ejaculation means ejaculation happens too quickly, regardless of erection quality.
The treatments are also different. Priligy (Dapoxetine), which is used for PE, must not be taken alongside the ED medications sildenafil or tadalafil, as combining them carries a risk of a serious drop in blood pressure. If you think you may have both conditions, tell your pharmacist so both can be assessed properly.
Some men find that anxiety about PE leads to erection difficulties, and for others it works the other way around. Your pharmacist will take the time to understand what is happening and make sure you are being treated for the right thing before anything is supplied.

PE is a recognised medical condition with both physical and psychological causes, and most cases involve a mix of both. Treating it only as a psychological problem means many men miss out on effective medication.
Dapoxetine reaches peak effect around one to two hours after taking it, which is why it is taken one to three hours before sexual activity. Most men notice a difference from the first dose.
Drinking alcohol alongside priligy (Dapoxetine) increases the risk of dizziness and low blood pressure. Avoid alcohol on the same occasion and grapefruit juice in the 24 hours before taking your dose.
No. Dapoxetine is an on-demand treatment taken only when you plan to have sex, not as a daily medicine. Some men find that behavioural techniques allow them to reduce their reliance on medication over time.
Dapoxetine is not routinely funded on the NHS in most areas of England and is typically accessed as a private service. Our pharmacist will give you a clear price before your appointment is confirmed.
Priligy (Dapoxetine) is a short-acting medicine that leaves the body within around 24 hours and has no known effect on fertility. EMLA cream is applied externally and does not affect fertility either.
