Call us or book online to arrange your HPV vaccination at Kingsland Pharmacy in Southampton.
Our pharmacist will carry out a quick health check to confirm the vaccine is right for you. The injection is given into your upper arm and takes just a few minutes from start to finish.
The number of doses you need depends on your age and health. Our pharmacist will confirm your schedule and remind you when your next dose is due. Keeping to the right intervals matters for the vaccine to work properly.
HPV is one of the most common infections in the UK. It spreads through skin-to-skin contact and most people carry it at some point without knowing. There are no symptoms in most cases. The issue is that certain strains do not clear on their own and over time they can lead to cancer.
Gardasil 9, the vaccine used at Kingsland Pharmacy, protects against nine HPV strains. These cover the types most responsible for HPV-related cancers and genital warts.
The vaccine helps protect against:
NHS England data shows the HPV vaccination programme has cut cervical cancer rates by nearly 90 per cent in women vaccinated at age 12 to 13. The vaccine is most effective before exposure to HPV. The sooner it is given, the better the protection.
The NHS offers the HPV vaccine free to teenagers aged 12 to 13 through school, with a catch-up programme available up to age 25. If you missed your school vaccination and are under 25, check with your GP first as you may still be eligible on the NHS.
At Kingsland Pharmacy, our private HPV vaccination service is available to anyone aged 9 and over who is not eligible for the NHS programme, including adults over 25, those travelling, or anyone who wants to act without waiting. The vaccine is suitable for both men and women and is most effective before exposure to HPV, though it can still offer meaningful protection to unvaccinated adults.
The vaccine should not be given during pregnancy and will be postponed until after your baby is born. It can however be given safely while breastfeeding. The HPV vaccine is also not suitable for anyone who has already completed a full course. If you have had some doses previously, our pharmacist will review your history and advise whether further doses are needed.
Book directly with us. No waiting for a referral or a GP appointment before you can be seen.
We use Gardasil 9, which protects against nine HPV types including those linked to cancer and genital warts.
Your vaccination is carried out by a qualified, registered pharmacist trained in immunisation.
Our private service covers adults who missed the NHS programme and are no longer eligible for a free vaccine.
One dose if aged 9–24, two doses if 25 or older, or three doses if HIV-positive or immunocompromised. Your pharmacist will confirm your schedule at your consultation.
Come in on the day or book ahead. We fit around you.
A quick health check is carried out before every vaccination to confirm it is right for you.
Before every HPV vaccination, our pharmacist will ask about your health, any medications you take, and your vaccination history. This makes sure the vaccine is right for you before we go ahead.
Every HPV vaccination at Kingsland Pharmacy is given by a GPhC-registered pharmacist who has completed training in immunisation. We follow current JCVI and UKHSA guidance for every dose we administer.
Gardasil 9 must be stored at the correct temperature to stay effective, between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. Our pharmacy stores vaccines in dedicated, monitored refrigeration units to make sure every dose is kept properly from arrival to administration.
Your vaccination and any health information you share with us is treated as strictly confidential. Your GP will be informed that you have received the vaccine, in line with standard NHS record-keeping requirements.
